Dokumentární film o Naessovi The Call of the Mountain z r. 1997:

Hluboká ekologie zahrnovala v původním Naessově článku z r. 1979 sedm principů:

(a) metafyziku sou-náležitosti (inter-relatedness),
(b) étos biosférického egalitarianismu,
(c) hodnota diverzity a symbiózy,
(d) proti-třídní postoj,
(e) opozice ke znečištění a ničení zdrojů,
(f) hodnota komplexity,

  1. Pro obhajobu vnitrni hodnoty vseho viz Q. Smith, Ethical and Religious Thought in Analytic Philosophy of Language, 1997, Yale. V clanku z roku 2003 z teto pozice Smith paradoxne, a dle me pochybne, vyvozuje moralni nihilismus.

(Viz muj clanek vohanka2.sweb.cz//V+PadQS.pdf; + muj komentar, ktery jsem mu poslal, ale na nejz mi Smith neodpovedel: I read two books on the meaning of life by Quentin Smith: The Felt Meanings of the World (1986) and Ethical and Religious Thought in Analytic Philosophy of Language (1997). The former rejects moral realism, principles of sufficient reason, and the analytic prevalence of exact thinking, while the latter (in conjunction with QS's paper A Defense of a PSR, 1995) embraces all of them. I still wonder: What was QS's chief motive for such a radical change of philosophical attitudes?

Secondly, one the side, in the 1997 book we are told the the meaning of life is to increase the overall value of the universe-history, while in the 2003 paper Moral Realism and Infinite Space-Time Imply Moral Nihilism we are told that because the space-time is temporally and/or spatially infinite we cannot increase its overall value and, consequently, life has no meaning. On the top of it, we are said that for infinite value of the space-time both (i) accelerating expansion of the universe and (ii) hyperbolic spatial topology of the universe are enough -- any of them is a sufficient condition. Now, the empirical evidence for (i) was published in 1998. But the relevant hyperbolic topological models was presumably known earlier -- which renders the proclaiming of the existence of the meaning of life in the 1997 book puzzling: why QS did not derive and publish its nihilism about the meaning already in 1997?

Similar didos are performed in his texts with respect to causal principles and preferred theories about the beginning of the universe.)
